The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement. A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), Worldwide Olympic Partners and Media Rights-Holders. It also works with public and private authorities, including the United Nations and other international organisations.

As a Sustainability and Legacy Communications Trainee, you will help shape the conversations around Olympic sustainability, communicate the positive impact of the Olympic Games, and support initiatives that advance sustainability in sport globally.

 

 

Sustainability and legacy communications main responsabilities:

  • Create an editorial calendar for key sustainability and legacy communications milestones and conferences including Olympic Games LA28, French Alps 2030, Brisbane 2032, Olympic anniversaries, UN Climate summit (COP31).
  • Create engaging social media posts to support the delivery of the IOC sustainability and legacy communications strategy;
  • Support the development of web and digital content around the above mentioned milestones and the IOC’s broader sustainability and legacy work by performing research, drafting web stories, selecting relevant images etc.;
  • Coordinate relevant teams internally (sustainability, legacy, translation, web, social media etc), to ensure timely publications of sustainability and legacy content across IOC channels;
  • Support management of the sustainability communications agency.

 

 

Eligibility requirements for this role:

  • University degree in Science Communications or a similar field at the intersection of sustainability and communications;
  • Minimum 6 months experience in communications or sustainability-related role;
  • Excellent research, writing and editing skills in English;
  • Excellent knowledge of social media and digital;
  • Native-level knowledge of English; good command of French is a plus;
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for innovative communication strategies, with a strong emphasis on engaging younger audiences;
  • Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to effectively apply them in a professional setting;
  • Excellent knowledge of office automation tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and corporate tools (SharePoint, Outlook).
